$75.00 Session for Medical Residency Headshots starting in June!
Your ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) application is more than just your grades or test scores — it’s your first impression. And that starts with your headshot. It’s one of the first things program directors notice, and a clean, professional photo can help show that you’re serious, prepared, and ready to be part of a medical team.
Getting your headshot taken by a pro makes a big difference. They know how to use the right lighting, angles, and background to help you look your best — confident, approachable, and professional. On the flip side, selfies or casual photos often fall short and may not meet ERAS requirements either.
Think of it as one more way to stand out — for the right reasons.
To be accepted by the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), your headshot must meet these technical guidelines:
Dimensions: 2.5 x 3.5 inches
Resolution: 150 DPI
File size: Less than or equal to 150 KB
Format: JPEG
Background: Plain, light-colored (white or light gray preferred)
How to Prepare for Your ERAS Residency Headshot Appointment
Your ERAS photo is more than a headshot—it’s a visual representation of your professionalism. Working with a professional headshot photographer ensures you meet the technical requirements while presenting yourself confidently.
Look for a photographer experienced in medical or corporate headshots, not just general photography. They should understand how to bring out a calm, confident expression that aligns with how you want to be perceived by residency programs. Ask to see sample ERAS headshots.
Wear conservative business attire in solid, neutral tones. Men should wear a suit and tie; women should opt for a blazer or blouse. Hair should be neat and pulled back if long. Avoid white coats, flashy patterns, or heavy makeup. You want to look polished yet approachable.
Practice a natural, slight smile that conveys confidence and friendliness. Photographers trained in professional expression coaching can guide you to avoid stiff or unnatural looks.
